A Year

Sometimes it is very difficult to judge what you accomplish in a year. In my work, *maybe* a paper is published or you can flip through a lab book, but with the dogs it is sometimes a bit easier.

The above picture are some of the results that Liina earned since March 2015.
Now I need to figure out a nice way to display her prizes. :)

I'm very excited to see what the upcoming years will bring for my little dogs.

Liina BOS and Junior BIS-4 in Kjugekull!

I have heard a rumor that there is always rain for the yearly dachshund show in Kjugekull. Last year Baxter was BM2 with CK and CERT and this year it was Liina's turn to shine. Liina and I were up and on the road at 6:30 this morning to join our friend Marianne and her puppy Laura for the taxklub show. It was the biggest club show I have ever been to with 133 dachshunds of all 9 varieties registered! The judges were great and moved along at a relatively good pace despite the adverse weather conditions. The day started and ended with sunshine, but there was quite a lot of rain in between. Regardless, good times, good friends, and good results!

Liina was shown in Junior class as a mini wire (measured today at 32cm) with 2 other female mini wires in the class. The judge loved Liina and awarded her Ex1, CK, Junior BOB! I was over the moon! We then walked for Best female and won! SO exciting!!! Then the heavens opened up and the rain poured down. Both Liina and I looked like drowned rats, but were awarded BOS (best opposite sex). :)

Evaluation Translation " Excellent type, size and proportions. Beautifully well balanced head. Good ears, eyes (though eyes could be a bit darker). Good bite. Very good forebreast and front. Excellent neck and shoulders, good ribcage depth and length. Beautiful back/pelvis and well angled back. Excellent coat quality and excellent movement

To top it all off, we walked today in the Best in Show Junior competition and placed 4th! So proud of my little dog and how well she did today! A little more practice and she will be a superstar. :)

Freddie's weekend at Ales Stenar

Simon had colleagues in town and Freddie went along as a "mascot." I received some great photos of the brown boy!

Happy 3rd Birthday Freddie!

Today is dreary and rainy here in Basel and, frankly, I'm a bit apprehensive to spend 2 hours in the rain for dog training. Luckily we have a lot to celebrate since today is Freddie "Fallilou du Sangre Bleu"'s  birthday!

Freddie was one of 2 males in a litter of 5: Fallilou, Fauve, Furka, Fargo and Frieda were born April 20th, 2010 about an hour southwest of Paris. There were 2 dark wild boar puppies and 3 brown puppies. They were the first litter from Canaille de la Meute a Cheops and Kobeddus Effendi in the kennel "du Sangre Bleu".
Freddie is (of course) the puppy standing on the other puppies.

We drove from Basel to Paris in July of 2010 and picked Freddie up and the rest is history.

Tiny Freddie

In his 3 short years Freddie has accomplished a lot (considering his first-time novice dog owners). He was rated V at our club zuchtschau in Germany and V,V1 JBOB at the Split 4 Summer Shows in Croatia and yes, there were other dogs in Junior class. ;) He has successfully completed Schussfestigkeit, Spurlaut, BhFK95 in 2 countries, Schweissprüfung, Fbja (IT fox test) and BHP 1&2. We continue to go to hunting activities and practices with him and hope that in the future we will be able to add to his list of accomplishments. In addition to hunting work, we actively take him to obedience/ability trainings. He is extremely bonded to Simon and the two are a fantastic pair.

Many happy returns Freddie! I'm looking forward for what's still to come!!
